Dec 2021 | STPP Profile

I was recently profiled by the Science, Technology, and Public Policy Program at the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy. I discussed how my time as an STPP postdoctoral fellow and faculty affiliate informed my later work as a research fellow in the Department of Cardiology at Michigan Medicine and, currently, as an assistant professor in the ASU School for the Future of Innovation in Society.

Oct 2018 | Invited Talk: Triple Canopy's "How We Do Illness" Symposium

I recently gave an invited talk as part of Triple Canopy’s “How We Do Illness” symposium, which considered how personal narratives shape public perceptions of illness. The symposium was produced in conjunction with Triple Canopy’s recent Risk Pool issue, edited by Corrine Fitzpatrick, Molly Kleiman, and Lara Mimosa Montes.

My talk, entitled “Illness Narratives in Digitally Mediated Environments,” examined how the increasingly mediated experience of patienthood shapes how we tell stories about illness, and how we call on others to health activism as part of a collective obligation toward health equity.

The event can be streamed here.
